Cookie Policy

FIRST THINGS FIRST…

This Cookie Policy is a supplement to the Privacy Policy of our Website and is intended to inform Users about the information we collect via cookies (or other similar tracking systems) that are installed – either by default or with your consent – on your device when you visit this Website.

  1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are sent to the user’s browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome etc.) when they visit the Website for the first time, and are stored on their device and then resent to the Website when the same user returns for subsequent visits.

  1. Why are cookies used?

Cookies are used for various purposes, such as performing and facilitating computer authentication, session monitoring, storing information about specific configurations of users accessing the server, storing preferences (e.g. relating to the use of the cookies themselves and/or display settings) etc., making browsing easier and the Website more responsive to users’ requests.

  1. What are the types of cookies?

With regard to their purpose, cookies can be divided into:

Technical cookies:

enable activities closely related to the website’s operation. Technical cookies can be divided according to the different length of time for which a cookie operates, i.e. their life cycle:

  • Session cookies: typically last until the user closes their internet browser. In essence, the cookie expires when the user terminates the browser session.
  • Persistent cookies: these are persistent and continue to operate even after the user has closed their browser. They allow for faster, easier access to the website when users return (e.g. automatically allowing entry if the user tells the website to “remember” them).

Technical cookies can also be distinguished based on their function:

  • Browsing cookies, which allow the website to function properly, allowing normal browsing and the provision of services requested by the user (e.g. making a purchase or authenticating access to restricted areas). Without this type of cookie, some operations would be less secure or more complex, and in some cases could not be carried out at all. These cookies are not stored permanently on the user’s device and are deleted when the browser is closed.
  • Functional cookies, which, based on the user’s instructions, allow the website to store some of the information about their browsing – remembering the user’s choices and automating some procedures (such as login) or customising website access and content (e.g. language) – in order to be reused in subsequent visits, improving the service offered and the quality of the visit.
  • Analytical cookies (considered technical cookies only if they are used directly by the website operator in order to optimise the website’s functionality by collecting visitors’ data), which allow the collection of aggregated – and therefore anonymous – information in order to perform internal statistical analyses of how the website is browsed (e.g. the number of users who visit the website, their geographical origin, the quality and quantity of the pages visited).

Users’ prior consent is not required for the installation of such cookies.

Profiling cookies:

used to track the browsing habits of users with the aim of creating profiles of their tastes, habits, choices made or other information. The purpose is to send the profiled user advertising messages that align with the preferences they have expressed while browsing online.

In view of their particular invasiveness, the valid consent of users is required.

Cookies (technical and profiling) can be distinguished based on their “origin” as follows:

  • First-party” cookies if set by the operator of the website the user is visiting.
  • Third-party” cookies if set by the operators of websites other than the one the user is visiting. This happens for example when the website the user is visiting contains elements such as images, maps, sounds, or specific links to web pages in other domains that reside on servers other than the one where the requested page is located. The use of data collected by these external operators through cookies is subject to their respective privacy policies.
  1. Which cookies does this website use?

This Website uses:

1) Strictly necessary browsing or functional technical cookies:

As a rule, these cookies are active by default when the user’s browser is set to allow them. The user can configure the browser to block or detect/check for the presence of these cookies (see paragraph E) but their deactivation could affect the proper operation of the Website and the services offered. These cookies can be defined by us or by third parties whose services have been added to the pages of the Website.

2) Statistical/analytical cookies…still technical!

By collecting and transmitting information in an anonymous form, statistical cookies help us understand how users interact with our Website. This category includes:

2.a) “Google Analytics” cookies

Laminam uses “Google Analytics”, a web traffic analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). This is a service useful for monitoring the Website’s proper operation, perform activities to support its security and take possible actions to improve the services provided. The Google Analytics service employs cookies through which the company Google gathers – in a totally anonymous manner – information including: IP address assigned to the device in use; browser used to visit the portal; geographical area, preferred language, date and time of access to a certain section of the website; information relating to the website of origin or the landing page. Google uses the Personal Data collected from users for tracking and examining the use of this Website, compiling reports and sharing them with other services developed by Google. Google may use personal data to contextualise and customise advertisements on its advertising network.  The information gathered with respect to the use of the internet portal will be processed by Google in compliance with the privacy policies provided by the company at: https://www.google.com/analytics/terms/it.html e https://www.google.com/intl/it/privacy/privacy-policy.html.

Note that the service described here is used by Laminam adopting every useful measure to reduce the identifying power of cookies used through: the anonymisation of the IP addresses associated with the devices connected to the web portal (IP anonymisation); avoiding the cross-checking of the data collected with other information.  Therefore, Google Analytics tracking cookies must be considered technical cookies, and as such do not require the user’s consent. In any case, each user can selectively disable Google Analytics by installing the opt-out browser plug-in provided by Google (accessible at the link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

4) Any cookies for interaction with social networks, integration of services and display of content from external platforms:

The website also incorporates social network icons and other functions or links that allow users who are browsing to interact via clicks with Laminam’s social pages or with the other platforms indicated directly from the pages of the Website and to use their functions and content. The management of any information collected by “third parties” through these tools is governed by their privacy policies, to which refer is made (see the links in the table below provided for your convenience).  Even if users do not interact with the social networks through the website, the service still collects traffic data relating to the pages where it is installed.

  1. How can the user manage and disable cookies?

Disabling cookies via browser configuration

It is possible to manage the settings for the installation of the various cookies on a browser by following the instructions provided by the main producers, such as: Internet ExplorerGoogle ChromeMozilla FirefoxApple SafariOpera.

If you are using a web browser other than those listed above, please refer to your browser’s documentation or online guide for further information. There are also online tools such as Browser Check by the Digital Advertising Alliance and Your Online Choices by the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance that allow you to choose how to use cookies on the web based on the device and browser that the user is using. For an overview of the possible actions for the most common browsers it may be useful to visit: https://cookiepedia.co.uk/how-to-manage-cookies .

New cookies are downloaded every time you connect to the Internet, so they should be deleted periodically. Some of the aforementioned browsers offer automated systems for the periodic deletion of cookies.

Disabling cookies for specific third-party services

For cookies relating to certain specific third-party services, follow the instructions contained in the following links: Google ServicesLinkedInFacebookTwitterPinterest.

Browsing without cookies via anonymous browsing

There are other solutions for browsing without cookies, including “anonymous browsing”. This function allows the user to browse without leaving any trace of browsing data in the browser. Consequently, the Website will not remember the user, the pages the user visits will not be stored in the history and any new cookies will be deleted. However, the anonymous browsing function does not guarantee anonymity on the Internet, because it only serves to not store browsing data in the browser, while browsing data will continue to remain available to website operators and connectivity providers.
