A journey among some of Tuscany’s most glamorous swimming pools

Not one, but many. Different, evocative, unique: wate changes colour depending on the materials used.

Let’s take swimming pools, for example: so similar at first sight, yet so different! Their shape, structure, features…even the colour of the water! In fact, the colour of the pool bottom plays a key role in its overall appearance, giving it an elegant, rustic or luxury feel, for example, depending on the context.

In Forte dei Marmi, one of Italy’s most elite seaside resorts on the Tuscan coast, Laminam large slabs have been used in numerous swimming pools, all of which designed on the basis of one key hypothesis: that every nuance, even the slightest, in the spectrum of the water helps create the identity of the environment, reflecting its very essence to residents or visitors.

At Villa Glass House, for example, a majestic private residence designed by architect Antonio Tanzini, the colour of the large swimming pool is, like the villa itself, an expression of its profound relationship with the surrounding environment.

Proudly embodying the refined quiet luxury of Forte dei Marmi’s historic residences, the villa stands out against the surrounding greenery of its gardens thanks to a design based on pure, light volumes and large windows. Finishing touch to an aesthetically striking and highly functional residence, the swimming pool in front of the villa helps create a figurative abstraction of the entire construction with its light and natural off-white colours.

It is an ode to the beauty of minimalism, which strips the villa of any decoration or frill in its elementary forms. The Ostuni travertine used for the paving and cladding therefore becomes the faithful companion of the Laminam in Calce Avorio slabs chosen for the pool. “A completely natural choice,” notes architect Antonio Tanzini. “In terms of its colour and texture, Calce Avorio was the closest solution to the natural stone which dominates this project.

It is also a solution which takes account of the effects of natural light and the importance of light design. A delicate and welcoming colour which helps the pool fit seamlessly into the surrounding natural environment.

“The pool bottom in Calce Avorio helped our work in terms of light and reflections. In fact, its light colour reflects all types of light in a neutral way, enhancing the ever-changing effects of natural light which vary according to season, time of day and the weather. The artificial light, which is more static, gives the water different colour effects depending on the chosen temperature, which can be hot or cold.”

Resort Miramonti

Remaining in Forte dei Marmi, we move on to Resort Miramonti, a four-star hotel. Nestled in the heart of Roma Imperiale, the Miramonti Resort stands as an icon of luxury and refinement. Its geometric and rational lines define the space with precision, creating breathtaking perspectives that go beyond imagination.

The architectural mastery, designed by Archdesigner Michele Vitaloni, CEO of VITALONI+PARTNERS, is evident in every corner, where impeccable expansion meets refined simplicity.

"The choice of materials speaks of elegance," says the Archdesigner: every element is carefully selected to enhance the overall opulence. The Miramonti Resort is not just a hotel; it is a testament to refined and precise design. From its strategic location to meticulous details, every aspect invites guests into a world where luxury is not just a word but an engaging experience."

The Pool

The pool at the Miramonti Resort, boasts the aesthetic, tactile quality as well as the technical performance of the large Laminam Calce slabs in Grey, used for the cladding, the external walkway (pool edge), and the furnishings: these are cubic-shaped seats immersed in the pool adjacent to the bar area, with an interesting compositional solution that allows guests to sip a drink or enjoy a snack while physically immersed in the dynamic nuances transferred to the surface by the Calce collection.

Soft and always in fashion, Grey serves as the backdrop to a pool that—once filled—seems to impose its presence and harmoniously converse with the wood of the walkways and the white structure of the building. In this way, the water, aided by the discreet strength of Calce Grey, seems to become more intense, fuller, and assumes personality, standing out between the greenery and its own structure.

Well-being, relaxation, but also extreme elegance. The right mix for an exclusive environment that aims to offer the best to its guests. From the natural freshness of Calce Avorio to the elegant softness of Calce Grigio: how many shades can the surface of water in a pool context count?
