Courmaison
In the famous mountain resort of Courmayeur, this private residence designed by internilab places the focus on natural materials and a traditional yet modernized style, for a design with a characteristic flavor. One of the stand-out features is the use of Laminam large slabs (Ardesia Nero Chiselled from the I Naturali collection) on some of the kitchen components – the island and doors. It is a surface capable of combining high-impact visual and tactile values with an excellent hygiene and safety profile.

A Jewel in the Alps
A world-famous skiing destination, Courmayeur stands at the foot of Mont Blanc, nestled in a spectacular setting composed of coniferous forests, mountains and glaciers. Its international fame and relevance have not affected the traditional and authentic atmosphere of an Alpine locale. The same welcoming, rustic atmosphere is found in the town’s accommodations whether luxury hotel, campsite or Alpine lodge: all have clear and profound links with the traditional architectural elements and characteristic materials of the locale, first and foremost of which being real wood.
The Elegance of Wood, the Charisma of Laminam Slabs
This passion for local materials and forms, reinterpreted in light of the need for contemporary comfort, is perfectly exemplified by Villa Courmayeur, a private residence designed by internilab, with architects Sabrina Tonino and Edoardo Rocci heading up the project. What stands out in the interior design is precisely the extensive use of natural wood, both on the walls and for the furniture which articulates traditional taste, in forms at times square and minimalistic, at others basic and archetypical.
Laminam contributes to the overall aesthetics thanks to a surface with a color which is both minimalist and at the same time charismatic – large slabs from the I Naturali collection, Ardesia Nero Chiselled color, used here on the kitchen island and doors.
Ardesia Nero Chiselled from the I Naturali collection
Ardesia Nero Chiselled is a black slab with chiseled finish whose name references the characteristic surface finish of the slate slabs which Ligurian quarrymen achieved by splitting the blocks. Laminam has preserved the peculiar features of this artisan process, combining it with the functional performance typical of its large slabs. The result is a surface which is compact and silky to the touch, whose design is the result of fusing together different levels of structural depth which are enhanced by the black coloration.
Ardesia Nero Chiselled is available in three different thicknesses (Laminam 5/Laminam 12+/Laminam 20+), and can be used in both traditional construction as facade cladding, and in interior design on walls, floors, or for designer furniture and built-ins. In the kitchen, Ardesia Nero Chiselled makes a key contribution to safety and hygiene thanks to the technical features which are common to all Laminam surfaces: resistance to stains, bending, chemicals, thermal shock, and mold and fungal growth, as well as suitability for food-contact applications. With their excellent moisture resistance, Laminam’s large slabs are also the ideal choice in areas subject to water, steam, and humidity, or which require constant cleaning.
