Collection Blend
Winner of the prestigious Grand Prix at the European Property Awards 2019-2020, Green Line House, designed by Przemek Olczyk of Mobius Architekci, is a private residence which creates a remarkable fusion with the surrounding natural environment. Laminam large slabs in the collections Blend (Nero color) and Collection (Bianco color and Bianco Polished) were used in the ventilated facade and for ceramic floors and walls, thanks to their aesthetic qualities and reliable performance even when exposed to challenging climatic conditions.
Warmia or Varmia, a region between Pomerania and Masuria in north-east Poland, is an area with low housing density. It is a dream for those who wish to live in a secluded location, in contact with unspoiled, wild nature.
Green Line House, designed by architect Przemek Olczyk of Mobius Architekci, is a private lakeside residence, which blends harmoniously into the surrounding environmental thanks in part to the chosen construction techniques which, while modern, pay homage to local architectural traditions.
The plot, of which the building occupies only a small part, incorporates a natural “wrinkle”, which was used as the starting point for the building’s design. The reinforced concrete slab, suspended above the terrain and supported by a system of columns, delineates the upper profile of the residence, giving it distinctive lines as well as providing a clear division of the internal spaces: living area on the first floor, and bedrooms on the second. The building is perfectly integrated in the surrounding context, and the choice to position the stairs externally – characteristic of public rather than residential buildings – transforms them into an interesting architectural feature. The glass curtain walls provide a transparent shield protecting the building from the strong winds common across the region, and at the same time provide visual access for the residents and more complete fusion with the surrounding nature.
The challenging climatic conditions meant great care had to be taken when choosing the cladding, and it was not by chance that this choice fell on the reliability of Laminam’s large slabs, with the Nero color from the Blend collection chosen for the ventilated facade.
Blend was one of the first ceramic collections created by Laminam, and is still today one of the most popular. A collection of minimalist surfaces which draws inspiration from concrete, but with a visual and tactile result which goes far beyond the material of inspiration, thanks to the texture which takes on a dotted and deceptively rough appearance. The Nero color represents an authentic ceramic skin designed for use on surfaces both inside and outside. Outdoors, the high performance of Laminam’s large slabs guarantees a service life equal to that of the expected lifetime of the building, whatever the climatic conditions. Their resistance to fading caused by UV radiation ensures the building’s beauty will stand the test of decades.
Thanks to its personality and majestic appearance, Blend Nero is particularly appealing when used indoors and on furniture pieces as well, as it stands out as the protagonist of a high-impact style with urban and underground influences. In Green Line House it has also been used for the walls of the living room and master bathroom, in the latter case in combination with the polished finish version of the Bianco color of the Collection range again on the walls, and Bianco on the floors.
Collection is Laminam’s most classic collection: clean, saturated colors like those on a painter’s palette show off all their versatility, acquiring an extra touch of originality in the polished finish. Use in problematic environments such as the bathroom, which is exposed to high levels of humidity and potential mold growth and thus requires impeccable performance on the hygiene front, once again reveals the technical performance of Laminam large slabs. This kind of performance is even more fundamental in a building with ambitious requirements such as Green Line House, leading to it winning the Grand Prix at the European Property Awards 2019-2020, one of the most important prizes in the commercial real estate sector.
